Closer Look at the Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Rack - 2022 Ford Maverick- Video

Hi, everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp LX and we're gonna see how it fits in the back of our 2022 Ford Maverick. Now this is gonna be a platform-style bike rack, which means the bike sits on top of these trays and this one's going to hold the bike by the frame, primarily. These cradles will be able to move up and down this mast, rotate around 360 degrees and adapt to meet your frame where it's at. So a good option for alternative frames and there's gonna be some secondary points of contact down on each wheel with these straps pulling down at a 45 degree angle against these wheel chocks, which helps give us a really solid hold on the bike. This rack does have a tilting feature. more

How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Swagman Espec on our 2023, Ford F-150. Going with a hitch mounted bike carrier is a great way to bring your bikes along with you when you're not towing with your hitch and you still need the space in your bed. It's a good way also to keep your bike stable and secure when you're on the road versus just loading it in the back of your truck, also. The Espec is a platform style bike carrier that is frame mounted. So essentially what that is, you're gonna have a hook that makes contact with your frame and your front and rear wheel are gonna strap into cradles. If you have a carbon fiber frame bike or a nice paint job or maybe even an unconventional frame, this wouldn't be the best option for you. more

Hi Matt with etrailer. and today we're gonna be talking about the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE bike rack on the 2018 Ford Explorer. Now this is gonna be one of our more heavy duty platform bike racks. It's gonna have the potential to hold up the two bikes up the 80 pounds per bike so that's gonna be able to accommodate your e-bikes. And what's also great about that is 80 pounds is a lot of weight, so compared to other e-bike carriers it's gonna outperform most of them. Since it is able to accommodate 80 pounds per bike, it's also gonna be a little bit more difficult to maneuver around but it's also gonna have three tie-down points, two in the tires, and then one on our main frame. more

Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Ford Edge- Video

Hi everybody, Cooper here from etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at our Kuat Sherpa on our 2022 Ford Edge. Our bike rack here is going to be a platform style bike rack weighted at 40 pounds for each bike and is going to be contactless frame support, meaning that's going to be great for our carbon frame bikes and our alternative frame bikes as well. In order to engage our tilt away function, we're just gonna go ahead and lift up a little bit on that, allowing us to disengage our lever here, and then just tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle which is going to allow us access into our trunk. Now it's not really enough room to sit down and maybe change my shoes, but it does allow me access into the trunk itself to maybe pick up my shoes or pick up my helmet or my lunch. Now, in order to get our bike frame back up, we're just gonna go ahead and grab it, lift up until we hear that click sound and that means it's back into place. more

Now, let's take a look at how it fits on there. From directly behind the Escape, looking at how the rack fits on here, you can see that your back windshield is gonna be pretty much obstructed, especially when you do load all the way up to five bikes on here. Your backup camera and your license plate will have reduced visibility, your third brake light from your cowling should still be visible to the drivers behind you, but with five bikes on here, again, with the tires hanging off to both sides, your taillights will be obstructed. more

Swagman XTC2 TILT 2 Bike Rack Review - 2020 Ford Escape- Video

Welcome to etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Swagman XTC2 Tilt here on a 2020 Ford Escape. Right out the gate, the big things to note for this bike rack are you gonna have a 35-pound weight capacity per cradle. It's not gonna be compatible with Class I hitches for the inch and a quarter. It's only gonna work with the Class II and it's gonna have the frame hook to hold it down inside of the wheel hoops, which is gonna make it incompatible with carbon frame bikes. Swagman Current 2 Electric Bikes Rack Review - 2020 Ford Escape- Video

Welcome to etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at the Swagman Current Bike Rack here on the 2020 Ford Escape. The Swagman Current is uniquely designed to handle electric bikes, so it's gonna have a 60 pound weight capacity per cradle in the two inch by two inch hitches, and it's gonna use a wheel hook design to secure the bike down into the two cradles. The hooks on here are very nice, because they do have such a thick padding. However, because they are hooks that clamp down on the frame, they will make it incompatible with any carbon frame bikes you may have. Looking at how the rack sits on here with a bike loaded up, we can see that our third brake light cowling is still fairly visible to any drivers behind us. more

Howdy everyone, John here and today we're taking a look at the Thule Helium on our 2020 Ford Escape. This is gonna be a great wheel tire hold for your lighter bikes. So let's take a closer look. It's able to hold by the wheels, so any of your odd shaped frame or your carbon frames are gonna be perfect for this. And in my opinion, whenever it comes to handles for these arms, this is probably one of the best for the wheel hold type. It's going to be a little bit goofy to push down, but overall, once you get it, it's much easier to work with this than some others, like the Inno Tire Hold, which has it down here, so you have to hold onto the arms as you push forward and press the button at the same time. more

This is a heavy duty bike rack that can carry your heavy duty bikes. You have a 70 pound weight capacity per bike, so, it's gonna be great for your heavy electric bikes. And we also have an added ramp that you can get additionally to help make your bike loading and unloading a little bit easier. But since it is a front wheel mount this is also gonna be great for your carbon fiber frame bikes, as well as, anything with an odd-shaped frame bike as well. Kuat Piston Pro X Bike Rack Review - 2020 Ford Escape- Video

Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at the Kuat Piston Pro X 2-Bike Platform Rack here on our 2020 Ford Escape. This is honestly probably my favorite rack, all the details and features all add up and make it a really pleasant experience working with this rack. First and foremost, you have a 67 pound weight capacity, so it's gonna be great for carrying those heavy electric bikes, and since it is a dual wheel mount, you don't have to worry about your carbon frame bikes, the women's bikes, or anything with a weird shaped frame. I'm gonna go ahead and start by tilting it away, there is a lever back here, you just push that and tilt it away, and now, we can go ahead and grab anything out of our hatch. We have plenty of room to even sit down, change our shoes if we need. What makes this one of my favorite racks is just how quick it is to take your bike on and off the rack, giving you more time to enjoy your bike ride. more

Hi to everyone, John here, and today, we're taking a look at the Hollywood Destination E-Bike on our 2020 Ford Escape. This is gonna be a great choice if you need to get your e-bikes or your bigger fat tire bikes out onto the trail, and get to riding. It's going to have a 70 pound weight capacity per bike, along with a 4.5 wheel width maximum, which is really good. You'll be able to hold the majority of your bikes that you run into, whether those are mountain bikes, fat tire bikes, or e-bikes. Along with that, I do wanna point out that this is frame mounted, so, if you have odd shaped frames, it's a little bit hard to work with. As you can see, even though we have a straight frame, it's still a little bit of a pain to, kind of, get in the right position, and then, also you won't be able to use this on any kind of carbon frame, so that's always something to keep in mind, but, if you happen to have something that's a little bit sturdier and heartier, I think this is gonna be a good choice. more

Kuat NV 2-0 Base 2-Bike Platform Rack Review - 2020 Ford Escape- Video

How's it going Ethan with etrailer here to show you the NV Base 2.0 on the 2020 Ford Escape. So with the NV Base, you have the wheel hook here as your primary point of contact and the strap in the back as your secondary point, so there's no contact with the frame at all, which is great for carbon bikes or alternative frame bikes. So your wheel base here will support you from anywhere up to 50 inches, and the weight capacity is about 60 pounds per bike, so it'll support most of your larger mountain bikes and maybe even some e-bikes. So if you come down here, you can see this pedal that allows you to tilt this back, and that gives you a little bit more room to see if you can't get enough clearance to open your hatch. So as you can see here, plenty of room, no real troubles with that. They go right back down, and then you can come right back around to the front, lift this guy up until you hear a click, and then you should be nice and secure and ready to go. more

So it's right there in tune with the lights on the back of your vehicle so you don't have to worry about anybody not seeing the brake lights if you have it pulled it over with two bikes. So the plugs right into the four pole on your vehicle on the Explorer it's there. So they work really nice. I do wanna address one of the big questions that we get asked all the time in regards to hitch-mounted bike racks, and that's if, "You're gonna be able to have access to the back of your Escape" And with this one, the answer is yes. It does fold down outta the way, and to do that, it's just a pen and clip, pull it out. The Yakima Hangtight is gonna be, in my opinion, the best bike rack for your 2019 Ford Transit, T-350, because we have so much room for a lot of people. We wanna be able to bring as many bikes as possible. Unless you have a truck and using a tailgate pad, there's not any other kind of options for getting six bikes to wherever you wanna go. This bike rack is gonna be great for hauling any bike that is up to 40 pounds per tray and the front wheel mount is gonna make it great for your carbon frame styled bikes because you're not gonna warp or damage the frame. And it's also gonna be great for your women's step through bikes or really any frame that's odd shaped. One of the cool features about this rack is the tilt away feature. And that way we can leave our bikes on and still have room to jump on the tailgates to grab our helmets or waters, whatever we need for our bike ride. Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over the Swagman XC2 two bike rack here on our 2018 Ford Taurus. Now the Swagman XC2 is an excellent entry level bike rack option for you and a friend. So there's two main types of bike racks, there's the hang style and then there's a flat horn style. Now the hang style generally or more cost effective, they're also a little bit lighter. However this particular platform rack here, really does both of those things well as well, because it only weighs about 25 pounds, therefore it's easy to get on and off the vehicle.
